SUMMARY:Responding to Behavior That Makes You Feel Uncomfortable
DESCRIPTION:This event is open to all UMA Staff. \nMost people have at some point been subjected to unexpected behavior that is unwelcome\, such as behavior that is aggressive\, lewd\, provocative or socially inappropriate. This may occur in the workplace\, at social gatherings or in public venues. In many of these instances our ability to respond effectively is often compromised because of fear\, confusion and/or inexperience in addressing unwanted behaviors. This course examines the nature of unwelcome behavior\, as well as how and why we respond the way we do\, and offers insights into how we can be prepared to effectively respond in the future when confronted with unwelcome behaviors. \nWorkshop Objectives \nAt the end of this workshop\, you will be able to: \n\nUnderstand the variety of unwelcome behaviors and the possible motivations behind them\nDescribe the obstacles commonly faced by those attempting to respond\nIdentify effective techniques for setting limits on unwelcome behaviors\nDescribe avenues for getting support after experiencing an unwelcome episode\n\nRSVP here \nHosted by UMA PEA

DESCRIPTION:Safe Zone Training at UMA is a 2-hour workshop designed to educate faculty\, staff\, and students about LGBTQ+ issues\, identities\, and allyship. The goal is to create a more inclusive\, supportive\, and safe environment for LGBTQ+ individuals. Participants learn about terminology\, challenges faced by LGBTQ+ communities\, and strategies to be effective allies. \nThis workshop will take place on Tuesday\, March 24th at 1pm on Zoom.

DESCRIPTION:Join Certified Yoga Instructor Sarah Hentges (Professor of Transdisciplinary Studies) for yoga classes via Zoom\, every Tuesday from 5:45-6:45. \nYoga is an excellent way to clear your mind\, manage stress\, and nurture your body.
