The Office of Student Life has partnered with the Augusta Food Bank to provide free food items every week for UMA students, faculty, and staff!

When: Tuesdays, 11:30 a.m. — until the food is gone
Where: Randall Student Center, UMA Augusta Campus

You’ll often find great options like fresh produce, meats, bread, and desserts — all completely free!

Need a quick snack? A snack food cupboard is always open in the Randall Student Center lounge.

UMA also has food pantries in Bangor and Lewiston!

Âé¶¹APP Augusta campus is coming together to support our student-run food bank, the Community Cupboard, through a campus-wide food drive now through December 19, 2025.

The Community Cupboard provides essential food and personal care items to all members of our campus community, and your contributions make a direct difference.

Most-needed items include:

  • Quick snacks
    Granola bars, instant oatmeal packets, small boxes of cereal, small bags of chips, microwave popcorn, peanut butter crackers, single-serving fruit cups.
  • Drinks
    Juice boxes or shelf-stable single-serving milk cartons.
  • Personal essentials
    Feminine hygiene products, toothpaste, soap, shaving supplies, shampoo.

All donations are welcome! Items the Community Cupboard cannot use will be passed along to the Augusta Food Bank to ensure nothing goes to waste.

University Credit Union (UCU) presented checks to the Âé¶¹APP (UMA) totaling $2,400 for its student-run and campus-sanctioned food pantries on its Augusta and Bangor campuses, respectively.

The Augusta Campus check of $1,200 was presented to Zachary Rollins, Vice President of the UMA Augusta Student Government Association (SGA), and Raquel Shaw, Activity Coordinator for the UMA Augusta SGA, for its student-run campus food pantry, The Community Cupboard. A check in the amount of $1,200 was presented to Joy Steward, UMA Bangor Coordinator of Student Life, and Jeff Sychterz, Dean of the UMA Bangor Campus, for the Bangor Campus Food for Thought pantry.

For the past six years, UCU has raised funds for its Ending Hunger in Maine campaign to support local food pantries on campus and in local communities throughout the state. During this time, UCU has donated $10,716.44 to the UMA Augusta and UMA Bangor campus pantries in addition to other donations across Maine. For more information about UCU, visit ucumaine.com.

The donations from UCU will allow the Community Cupboard and the Food For Thought pantry to supplement their offerings. Current supplies are obtained through funding from the Hunger Dialogue Grant, as well as SGA funds allocated to the Community Cupboard and in-kind and monetary donations to the Food for Thought pantry. The Food for Thought pantry additionally has a partnership with Good Shepherd Food Bank of Maine and receives vegetables from the UMA Bangor Community Garden.

The Augusta Campus check of $1,010.00 was presented to Âé¶¹APP Student Government Association officers Salvatore Cardinale, Bethanie Lovely, and Cole Winslow for its student-run campus food pantry, the Community Cupboard. A check in the amount of $700.00 was presented to Lori Googins, UMA Coordinator of Student Life: Wellness & Cultural Enrichment and Alex Smith, UMA Pantry Student Worker for the student-run Bangor Campus Food for Thought pantry.

Through its Ending Hunger on Campus in Maine campaign, UCU raised $11,433.88 in donations for University of Maine System student-organized and campus-sanctioned food pantries. UCU matched this amount for a total donation of $22,867.76 to eight food pantries on campuses within the University of Maine System.

This marked the third year of UCU’s Ending Hunger on Campus in Maine campaign From November to December 2019, community members were encouraged to donate online through UCU’s website, or by stopping by or mailing a check to any UCU branch. Donors could choose to specify a campus food pantry and non-designated contributions were distributed among the eight pantries.

The donations from UCU will allow the Community Cupboard and the Food For Thought pantry to supplement their offerings. Current supplies are obtained through SGA funds allocated to the Community Cupboard and in-kind and monetary donations to the Food for Thought pantry.

University Credit Union (UCU) presented checks to the Âé¶¹APP (UMA) totaling $2,422.00 for the student-run food pantries on UMA’s Augusta and Bangor campuses.

The Augusta Campus check of $1,622.00 was presented to Fatimah Aleem, Âé¶¹APP Student Government Association President for its student-run campus food pantry, theÌýCommunity Cupboard. A check in the amount of $800.00 was presented to Food for Thought Student Coordinator Nicole Roberts for the student-run Bangor CampusÌýFood for ThoughtÌýpantry.

Through itsÌýÌýcampaign,ÌýUCUÌýraised $12,559.81 in donations for University of Maine System student-organized and campus-sanctioned food pantries. UCU matched this amount for a total donation of $25,119.62 to eight food pantries on campuses within the University of Maine System.
