The UMA Ellsworth Center is excited to host Swipe Right for Scholarships, a free, virtual scholarship workshop open to all UMA students and members of the public, on Wednesday, February 18, from 10 a.m. to Noon via Zoom.

This annual scholarship event offers practical, expert guidance on how to find, apply for, and maximize scholarship funding. Whether you’re new to the process or refining your strategy, participants will leave with tools and tips they can use immediately.

Students had the opportunity to write passages about a woman in their life that has made a positive impact which were all displayed around the event, in addition some women at the center were recognized at a ceremony in person.

On top of all that the Student Association had some prizes to be won, two Hannafords gift cards were given away and one 50 inch TV was won by a lucky UMA Ellsworth student, McCartney!

We hope everyone takes some time to celebrate!

This February, to celebrate Valentine’s Day the Ellsworth Center student association chose one lucky UMA student to be their valentine. They put together a basket full of lovely treats and gifts and chose their companion with a raffle. The charmed winner was Allan and he couldn’t be happier!

This December, students at the UMA Ellsworth Center set out to support each other during the often stressful time of the holidays. The student association put together an Adopt a Snowflake Tree, which had been adorned with ornaments bearing the names of many UMA children. Students who wanted could then grab one off the tree and go out shopping to buy gifts for them! Once all was bought, it was brought to the center where the student association worked tirelessly to wrap the gifts up in time for the holidays.

Faculty from Art, Nursing, Mental Health & Human Services, Cybersecurity, Community Policing, Education, Uncrewed Aviation and Aviation Maintenance, along with Ellsworth Center staff will be on hand to give tours of the facility, answer questions and offer guidance to prospective students in the process.

February is the key time to pursue scholarships and supplemental funding to increase your financial resources for the next school year. Fall in Love with Scholarships is an annual UMA Ellsworth Center event available to all UMA students via Zoom!

On February 20th, from 9:00am to 12:00pm, experts will share scholarship search strategies and suggest accessible scholarships to pursue.

All those registered for the webinar will receive follow-up resources, plus a webinar recording.

Starting August 15, 2023, Ann will be joining the Ellsworth Center staff. Ann brings nearly nine years of experience in this role to our Center students. Ann has missed working with students and with her UMA colleagues. She is a strong supporter of Â鶹APP mission and is looking forward to assisting students in setting goals, making and following plans, finding and using resources that promote student success, and fostering mutually supportive relationships.
