Dr. Temple Grandin brought insight, humor, and inspiration to the Ā鶹APP during her visit on Oct. 14. The event, held as part of Ā鶹APP year-long 60th anniversary celebration, drew a sold-out audience of more than 600 people at the Augusta Civic Center.
Earlier in the day, Dr. Grandin met with about 25 UMA students for a small discussion focused on creativity, problem-solving, and the value of different ways of thinking. A meet and greet followed, where 40 guests connected with Dr. Grandin and UMA President Jenifer Cushman.
Her keynote address, āThe World Needs All Kinds of Minds,ā captured Ā鶹APP mission to meet learners where they are and to celebrate diverse approaches to learning.
The event raised $10,000 for the Dr. Maya Angelou Leadership & Service Award Fund established by the UMA Student Government Association in 2010, directly supporting students through increased access and opportunity.

About Dr. Temple Grandin
Dr. Temple Grandin is a world-renowned author, educator, and advocate for autism and neurodiversity. She is a professor of Animal Science at Colorado State University and the author of bestselling books including Thinking in Pictures and The Autistic Brain. She was named one of TIME Magazineās 100 Most Influential People in the World, and her life was portrayed in the award-winning HBO film Temple Grandin. Her work has helped millions better understand different ways of thinking and learning.
