Second Chance Month
April 1, 2026 - April 30, 2026
Each April, Second Chance Month invites communities across the country to recognize the challenges justice-impacted individuals face as they rebuild their lives after imprisonment and the opportunities that can help them succeed.
Across the United States, nearly 2 million people are incarcerated in state and federal prisons, and an estimated 5 million formerly incarcerated individuals are working to rebuild their lives in their communities. Many encounter barriers to housing, employment, mental health care and substance use support while also navigating the lasting stigma and trauma of having done time. These challenges contribute to high rates of recidivism within the first few years after release.

He chose the month of April to coincide with his son's birthday, as well as the start of spring—a time for new beginnings. In April 1988, President Ronald Reagan issued the first presidential proclamation declaring April as National Autism Awareness Month. This was significant progress and began a new era of awareness, which opened opportunities for people with autism to live fuller and more productive lives.

World Autism Month
April 1, 2026 - April 30, 2026
April is Autism Awareness Month, an international event established to increase understanding and acceptance of individuals with autism. Autism Awareness Month was founded in April 1970 by Bernard Rimland, Ph.D., a psychologist and autism researcher.

April is Autism Awareness Month, an international event established to increase understanding and acceptance of individuals with autism. Autism Awareness Month was founded in April 1970 by Bernard Rimland, Ph.D., a psychologist and autism researcher.

Second Chance Month

April 1, 2026 - April 30, 2026
In April 2015, a group of Dalit Women launched the Dalit History Month project, inspired by Black History Month. It is an annual observance in India as a way of commemorating important people and events in the history of the Dalits, otherwise known as Untouchables. Dalits are face severe discrimination based on their caste, even though such discrimination is illegal in India. Followers of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Ambedkarites, celebrate it all around the world. Dr. Ambedkar was an Indian jurist, Buddhism revivalist, and Minister of Justice in India who fought for the equal rights of Dalits.Â

Second Chance Month
