Interlibrary loan (or “ILL”) is a service UMA provides that allows you to borrow books, articles, and other materials from other libraries across the state and country if UMA doesn’t have what you’re looking for. We are only able to fulfill requests that do not have an associated fee or cost.
To request books from Maine libraries, click the Request button in either: or .
To request articles or book from other libraries outside of Maine: Use .
- When creating an account:
- Do not use the @ symbol in your username (it will cause an error message).
- “MaineCard number”Ìý= library barcode number (small numberÌýunderÌýthe barcode on the front of your UMA ID card) OR you can typeÌý´¡³Ü²µ³Ü²õ³Ù²¹Ìýin the box.
- Put your campus/Augusta/BangorÌýaddress as the Primary Address and chooseÌýUMAÌýas your Status.
- You will receive a confirmation email once your account is set up. You don’t need to wait for the confirmation to begin using your account.
- SMS Text notification is also available.Ìý
Once you have created an account you can use it to make requests, to retrieve the items you requested, and to keep track of due dates for books and other materials requested through ILLIad.
Additional ILL Things to Know:
- Current students, faculty, and staff of UMA may use ILL services (in-state and out-of-state materials).
- Community borrowers may request items through LibrarySearch or MaineCat only (in-state only).
- We may be unable to fulfill requests for reference books, fragile or rare items, textbooks, dissertations, and journal volumes.
- Please do not remove ILL labels.
- Charges will apply for unreturned items.
