Established in October 1999, the Terry Plunkett Collection consists of books and videos by and about Maine authors. The primary focus of the Plunkett Collection is contemporary Maine fiction and poetry, although the collection also includes rare publications in Maine poetry, posters, letters, manuscripts, memorabilia, and other primary sources concerning poetry and literature in Maine. The collection honors former UMA faculty Terry Plunkett’s accomplishments as teacher, poet, scholar, novelist, editor, and mentor.

Terry Plunkett was a Professor of English at the Â鶹APP from 1969 to 1998. Plunkett is also known for editing Â鶹APP literary journal, The Kennebec: A Portfolio of Maine Writing, and serving as Acting Dean of Academic Affairs from 1980-1981. He was named Professor Emeritus of English in 1998. He passed away in 1998, leaving behind many caring friends and family. Â鶹APP annual Plunkett Poetry Festival is named for him.
